Issues

Restoring trust in Albany schools starts with transparency, accountability, and leadership that listens.

The recent educator strike sent ripples throughout the community that are still felt today. This has led to a divide and decreased trust and collaboration between the educators, administration, school board, and community. We must do better for the next generation to thrive and succeed.

Community First

Parents deserve a say in their children’s schooling, and educators must be heard and supported. I will move conversations out from behind closed doors and advocate for open and honest communication to make decisions based on the needs of all community members.

The GAPS Board of Directors has one of the most important tasks in the community. Their decisions make the community of tomorrow strong and grow. I will advocate best practices, fight against federal and state cuts, and ensure our voices are heard at each level.

Focus on School Safety

When students and staff feel safe, learning improves. I will advocate for more mental health services in schools, peer mediation programs, social/emotional support and training, and staff support.

I understand the financial issues facing the district in the coming years and have a history of thinking creatively to achieve the best outcomes. I will not be paralyzed and make excuses; I will always push for continued improvement, especially where student and staff safety are involved.

Welcome Differing Voices and Finding Common Ground

The current school board has a history of shutting out differing voices. Welcoming these outside voices and finding common ground creates a stronger and more resilient community. It builds trust, challenges assumptions, and creates more well-rounded solutions.

If elected, I will set up office hours around the district so that I am available for people to share and work together toward a better GAPS.
