Meet Kristopher
Kristopher Schendel is a parent and community leader running for the Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) Board of Directors Zone 1. He believes in the power of collaboration and is committed to strengthening education in Albany.
Growing up with a single mother who worked her way through school, Kristopher saw firsthand how education changes lives. He is a lifelong learner who earned a Master’s in Education from Western Oregon University and is pursuing an Executive Master’s in Public Administration at Portland State University.
As a Senior Code Compliance Officer, Kristopher brings extensive experience in policy creation, holding individuals and groups accountable, and advocating for others. He currently uses this experience to serve on the Fish of Albany Board of Directors and as the Albany Police Association’s Treasurer.
His passion has led him to unite communities, remove barriers, and create innovative solutions that bring people together. He has established collaborative partnerships between cities, non-profits, local businesses, and those in need. This work has led to self-sustaining programs such as the Big Pick-up and Neighbors Helping Neighbors, which benefit all community members.
